Meet the Creator

Hi, my name is Falon. I am the creator of the lanyards and this fun business. I wish to tell you a bit about my journey of getting here.

I was born in 1992, I grew up in a small town during the early 2000's, graduating high school in 2010. Following graduation I moved out of home, and back in. I repeated this a couple more times. While I moved around my jobs did too.

My first job I worked as a lifeguard in high school. I then completed the EMR course at 19y/o. I worked as an oilfield medic all over Alberta for a few years. I decided to give welding a try after this and worked as an apprentice for almost 5 years. Frustrated with depending on others to earn money I decided to go back to lifeguarding.

While lifeguarding in a small town I joined the local fire department as a volunteer. During the pandemic I struggled to maintain a position as a lifeguard with layoffs from facility closures during that time. That's when I made the choice to begin a career in healthcare. I began working in long term care as an HCA full-time. I completed the 1 year HCA program at the same time. Following the completion of the program my then fiancé and I decided to plant our roots in a small town north of Edmonton. When we made this move I decided with my experience in firefighting I would apply for an HCA position in emergency medicine.

Last March I decided I wanted a beaded lanyard to go with my dull grey scrubs, something that was unique to me. Growing up in the late 1990's/ early 2000's it was popular to fashion beaded jewelry of sorts. Coming up dry with my online searches I decided I would make my own. I visited the dollar store to get my string, beads and breakaway clasps.

When my lanyards began gaining the attention of coworkers and with extra supplies I made coworkers lanyards for free. Then with more attention I decided to make lanyards at cost. Now a year later I am finding joy in creating pieces while growing this small business, and maintaining a part-time position in the emergency room.
